IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT

I love that God wastes nothing in our lives! And I adore that He has a plan for us even when we don’t see it! And I think it is the greatest that He gifts all of us with ways to reach the world for His Kingdom!

Isn’t God good?

Many of you know me as a dramatist/writer/musician—my mission statement is to know Christ and make Him known through drama, music, and writing. That is what dropped into my heart several years ago when I read that I should have a mission statement and was praying about what it might be and I didn’t really worry about the order of it because I do all three.

I perform dramatizations of women from Scripture, I lead worship, sing and play the keyboard at my church, and I write. You may have bought one of my books from a book table at a conference. I’ve been published in Chicken Soup for the Soul, The Rocking Chair Reader, several web-zines, Rural Roads magazine and also wrote my autobiography, Stories from the Well, and the Cinderella allegory that Kary and I published together: my words and his beautiful illustrations. Both of these books were related to my ministry of drama and speaking to churches and women’s groups.

But since last winter, God has percolated a story in my heart and it won’t let go, so I am getting serious about writing! I have written in the past as a part of what I do, but I am believing that God is taking the gift He has given that dwells within me and it is time for it to bear fruit.

So I joined the American Christian Fiction Writer’s (ACFW) organization and will attend their annual conference next week in Denver, Colorado! (for more info, go to www.acfw.com)

Wow! I am already abuzz with excitement at the opportunities for learning, fellowship, and fun with other wordsmith’s who write for His glory! My manuscript is not quite finished but I know the rest of the story God has written on my heart because it is a Prodigal story and that is what I am. The adage says to write what you know and I know this….no one is beyond the grace of God and the Father is always looking ready to run to us to welcome us home.

In RUN AWAY HOME, Patti Jennings has stripped off her faith the way she strips off her clothes—publically. Now, witness protection is her only hope. Or is it?

“One woman. Two identities. Dangerous past. No future.”

Coming soon (we hope and pray! :0)

I know each of the 500 attendees will have their own story that only they can write because God calls us to Him in such a personal way. I am excited to hear exactly how they heard God’s call to write. To laugh and to cry. To labor and to celebrate. It should be a wonderful time and I covet your prayers for me as I go.

In a world that is in free fall, Christian fiction sales continue to rise because it is one way that He is holding out hope for a lost and dying world. I am excited that He is calling me in this direction!

And kimzweygardt.com is getting a fresh new look to go with the fresh direction in my life. Dear friend and web guru extraordinaire from SeaBriz Designs (who also gave me inspiration and a place for part of the story of my novel in progress) is working hard to freshen everything up, so check back often! I’ll be blogging post conference (and maybe during the conference :0) so keep in touch! Do you twitter? www.twitter.com and search for kimzzzzzs so you can follow what is going on here, there and everywhere!

Blessings to you on the journey God has given you!
